Alice | ecilA
On July 4th 1862, on a riverboat journey in Oxford, Lewis Carroll first told Alice Liddell and her sisters about a bored little girl who followed a white rabbit into Wonderland.
In 2012, Amara Ko was invited, along with artists from around the world, to collaborate on a new illustrated edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the story's first telling. AmarA Ko was asked to illustrate chapter one of Looking-Glass.
Through the course of creating the 3 paintings, AmarA Ko became enamored with the reflection girl. A looking-glass is quite altering, the world behind it strange and twisted. What of the strange twisted girl who mirrored Alice. What about ecilA?
Some day Amara Ko intends to explore that.
